Library - Glenallen School

Our library has been carefully designed to ensure accessibility and ease of use. The shelves are widely spaced, easy to navigate, and carefully positioned to support students who use wheelchairs or walkers. Signage features the same symbols students see in their communication systems, making it easier for them to find the books they are looking for.

The digital catalogue follows a PODD structure and is fully compatible with touch screen, switch and eye gaze technology. This allows students to independently search for and discover books in the library system.

The collection is carefully curated to meet a broad range of needs. Resources include large print texts, sensory stories, digital and audio books, as well as a wide selection of high-interest low-readability (hi-lo) titles, graphic novels and illustrated texts aimed at older readers.

Alongside these specialised formats, the library also holds a rich variety of picture books, novels, poetry and non-fiction. Both Australian and international authors are represented, with a deliberate focus on inclusion and reflecting diverse voices, cultures and experiences.
