The Transition School section provides a quality curriculum for students aged 16 – 18 years.
The focus of Transition School programs is to prepare students for life after school as an active member of the community. We aim to develop student’s existing knowledge and skills, promote leisure activities, maximise independence and encourage a sense of being a young adult.
In conjunction with an Individual Learning Plan (ILP), a Managed Individual Pathways Plan is written in consultation with parents, teachers, therapists and the student (if appropriate) when the student is in their final year of secondary school.
These priorities are reviewed and updated each year to assist in individual program planning with a view to future placements.
The Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) is offered. This secondary accredited course has an emphasis on practical applied learning, work and further study and includes literacy and numeracy, personal development skills, work related skills. Students also study Certificate 1 or 2 in Information Technology.
All of the Transition students participate in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Program.
